This is my drawing of an Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar).
In Norway, there are Atlantic salmons in around 450 rivers, but they are classified as in danger of extinction, due to a sharp decline in population.
Some of the reasons behind this decline are climate change, escaped farmed salmon, salmon louse and river conditions.
This salmon is drawn with a 0.5 mm fineliner, over a basic pencil sketch.
The drawing was finished in about five or six hours.
Most of the time spent on the initial pencil sketch and the stippling work.
I also tried to add those characteristic lines along it’s side.
Here is the finished drawing. Drawn on A5 paper from a Moleskine sketchbook.
